Calais Let's Dance 2026: the red thread of the summer<\/h2>\n

For the 2026 season, Calais La Plage is being organised around a unique theme inspired by David Bowie, ten years after his death, with a programme that runs all summer along the seafront. Concerts, exhibitions, shows and beach entertainment follow one another from June to September, creating a continuous atmosphere that invites you to extend the beach day into a festive evening.<\/p>\n

At the heart of the programme is the \u00abBowie Odyssey\u00bb exhibition at the Forum Gambetta from 4 July to 16 August, featuring over 1,000 items from the collection of Jean Charles Gautier, one of France's leading Bowie collectors. The bilingual French-English exhibition brings together vinyl, original documents, photographs and rare media, and is accompanied by collectors' weekends, record fairs and a film retrospective at the Alhambra.<\/p>\n

Concerts and parties to get you dancing this summer<\/h2>\n

The Calais Let's Dance 2026 programme features a number of tribute concerts throughout the summer in the Place d'Armes and along the seafront. On 10 July, the Biopic Live show \u00abOnce Upon a Time Bowie\u00bb takes to the Place d'Armes for two hours of free entertainment, continuing the Bowie theme chosen for the season. Other evenings pay tribute to popular artists with a Tribute to Patrick Bruel on 11 July and a Tribute to Daniel Balavoine on 25 July, followed by a Tribute to Queen on 22 August.<\/p>\n

In addition to the concerts, there are a number of festive events on the summer calendar. The Compagnie du Dragon is organising a Silent Party on 20 June, where everyone dances to the music of their choice, while the Back to the Hits evening on 14 July revisits the 80s and 90s live before the fireworks display from the beach. On 8 August, Calais For Night will be hosting a DJ night with a number of electro artists, from early evening until midnight, to prolong the festive atmosphere by the sea.<\/p>\n

Family entertainment and funfair by the sea<\/h2>\n

Calais Let's Dance is not limited to evening concerts and shows, and the programme includes a host of activities designed with families in mind. All summer long, the Place Albert 1er and the seafront are the setting for inflatable villages, urban tree climbing courses, wooden games and sporting challenges that bring together several generations around simple activities to share.<\/p>\n

On the beach, fun facilities such as the climbing palm tree, the surf simulator and the pirate hang-glider offer more physical experiences, accessible to beginners and thrill-seekers alike. These facilities complement the classic seaside activities and make it easy to fill a whole day, alternating between swimming, beach games and programmed highlights.<\/p>\n

From 25 July to 23 August, the Summer Fair at the West Basin adds a fairground dimension to the season, with family rides, thrill rides and fairground stalls, in a harbour setting transformed into a playground. It's one of the few ticketed events of the summer, but it's one of the best-attended, adding to the festive atmosphere that is Calais Let's Dance.<\/p>\n

Street art, shows and open-air exhibitions<\/h2>\n

Summer 2026 also includes a major street art and visual arts programme. The Calais Street Art Festival, which won the town the Golden Street Art 2025 award for a work created by Flow, returns from 14 July to 15 August with eleven artists from five different countries. More than eighty works of street art are already lining the streets of Calais, transforming them into veritable open-air galleries.<\/p>\n

At the same time, artist Patricia Cunha is taking over several Calais streets and squares with colourful, visual installations that add a poetic dimension to everyday urban life. Her creations can be seen in rue Royale, place d'Armes and around the town hall, and complement the work of the festival's artists.<\/p>\n

Fort Risban, facing the English Channel, will become the venue for open-air shows. In 2026, the programme will include an equestrian show inspired by the world of the Wild West, falconry demonstrations and performances by the Herv\u00e9 Koubi company, which has a strong international presence and is premiering a new show here.<\/p>\n
